Six Months after Colon Operation

My husband was put on post-op Chemo treatment. He had his second infusion last week and generally felt unwell for the rest of the week. Yesterday he woke up with very bad cramps. I called the doctor who gave him a good examination and a prescription for Buscopan.
Later in the evening he started to have a bowel movement which quickly turned to diarrhea. I phoned the doctor and explained what was happening. He booked him into hospital straight away. They monitored him through the night and a surgeon examined him this morning and said that it was inflamation caused by the Chemotheraphy.
Please can you help me and put my mind at rest. Have you ever heard of this happening before?
