Removal of polyps

by Becky
(Atlanta ga)

I'm 48 years old and I had my first colonoscopy yesterday.
2 polyps were found in the proximal descending colon.
They were 5 - 7 in size.
The doctor burned them off and said a biopsy would be done but he was not concerned. Worst senario 3 years return or 10 years.
How can he be so sure without the biopsy report?

I agree that when Dr's are carrying out this procedure they can often tell the ones that may be sinister. I had a polyp removed, and my dr also told me he felt it was nothing to worry about. He was wrong. The polyp was malignant, and five years on Im doing fine. Only histology results can give you a definative answer,dr's should not commit themselves either way once they remove the polyp until they have straight answers.

Good luck. Stay focused on being calm. Until someone tells you there's a problem, just take it there isnt one.

The Dr see this everyday, several times a day and believe me they grow in most cases very slow.
Eat healthy
drink lots of water
and wait to find out if its 3 or 10.
