Rectal exam - Anal itches

by Margaret
(Seattle,WA )

A few years ago, my intern doctor told me to go to OB/GYN and she said it was not her job to give me a rectal exam.

I wonder why OB/GYN did not perform a rectal examine after she performed a cervical swab for cervical cancer to prevent cancer spread. But she said it was not her job to do a rectal exam.

I feel betrayed and I often have anal itches and have not been examined by a doctor. I think that if they don't do a rectal examination for colorectal signal, that they are not doing their job to prevent colon cancer issues.

I am 49 yr old. I want to know why doctors seem to not feel it is their job to prevent colon or anal cancer?

I am a deaf mother with two daughter. What would you recommend because of my deafness barrier? I always have ASL interpreter. The doctor has to pay the expense for ASL interpreter.
