Please Don't Put Off a Colonoscopy It Can Save Your Life!

I am 46 years old with a family history of colon cancer and diverticulosus. I began having symptoms about 15 years ago.
I finally went for a colonoscopy about 5 years ago and was diagnosed with diverticulitis and a small polyp which was removed. I was supposed to go back every 2 years for a routine colonoscopy.
I put the test off for almost 3 years as I was taking care of my terminally ill sister. I forgot to take care of myself and put off my own health issues. I began to have blood in my stools, pain in my lower abdomen and diarrhea.
Finally I went for a colonoscopy and they found a large rectal villous adenoma 4x5 cm which had to be removed by surgery. I was told that if it wasn't cancer that it would definitely turn to cancer if it was not removed.
If I had gotten my colonoscopy earlier it could have been removed when it was a small polyp. This surgery was so painful and a very hard recovery.
It could of all been prevented, so please get a colonoscopy and don't be afraid.
It saves lives.
It saved mine and it can save yours or someone you love and fortunately it was not cancer. I just wish I would of gotten the test sooner to avoid the surgery, pain, recovery, loss of work,etc...
