Odds that i have colon cancer in my 30s...
I am a 34 yr old female and have had stomach issues off and on for 6 yrs. Alternating between constipation and diarreah,horrible stomach pains,terrible indigestion etc. Had a lower gi done 5 yrs ago and nothing was found so I was told I had ibs. Last week I had awful stomach pain and went to my dr. I had a cat scan and was told I had really bad diverticulitis. They acted very concerned and I was put on cipro and flagel. Got a little better but still having some pain.
Went for a follow up with my dr yesterday and he said he wants a colonoscopy done bc I had a large mass that was seen during ct. He said if I were 10 yrs older they would suspect cancer but @ my age its unlikely.
I am very worried though and have to wait a month for a colonoscopy to be sure the infection is gone so it doesn't perforate during procedure. A long time to wait to find out if I have cancer.:( how likely is it to be in my 30s and have colon cancer??
