Nursing and Nutrition for Colon Cancer Patient

Hello dear doctor,
one of my neighbors is a poor and money-less 57 years old male with chronic hemorroid and hyper thyroid (for 15 years).
after complaint of feeling fluid accumulation in his abdomen he was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in his transverse colon.
he is under chemiotherapy and fluid withdrawal.
he is at home now.
there is a question of nursing and nutrition. he refuses to drink water because of those fluids,
what about 2 liters of daily intake of water. is it good for him, or it causes more fluid accumulation again?
moreover what about other foods ?
what kind of nutrition can help him to fight against enemy cells?
i will be very grateful to recieve some advices and information about these questions
