My Brother & Colon Cancer

by M. Evans
(Dallas, TX)

On April 9, 2011 my brother was diagnosed with colon cancer. Once we were told we were not sadden we just wanted to focus on treatment. The doctors never told us what stage cancer it was and we didn't even ask.

My brother started chemotherapy and radiation mid April. It was hard because he began to get sick from the chemotherapy. He only had 2 treatments of chemotherapy.

Radiation became awful towards the end because my brother did not have an appetite, so he lost a tremendous amount of weight. The radiation made his bottom really raw and to this day has not fully healed.

On August 22, 2011 the doctor checked my brother after treatment and he advised us that he is not going to live and he gave us less than 6 months. Right now I am numb and at a loss of word. I am trying my best to keep the atmosphere positive, spirit filled, and comfortable.

I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my brother. I will speak with him and see what he would like to do. I am going to try another doctor and pray that we can get some help.

My thoughts are with you. My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in July. It has spread to the liver and lungs. She is being treated at Baylor in Dallas. The chemo almost did her in a few weeks ago. They have decreased the dose and is doing better as far as side effects go. Her last CT shows the tumors are responding to treatment. This is a horrible disease and it strikes many so young, my mother is only 63 and in the prime of her life. Please seek another opinion before giving up, precious time may be added for your brother. I will pray for you and your family.

My Brother & Colon Cancer

Please don't give up easily. Take your borther to another doctor and get a second openion. I hope the other doctor would be more aggressive and help your brother to fight that colon cancer.

I have read stories online similar to yours
and the cancer patients survived and lived.
I will give you a link to one of them as soon as I can.

I wish the best to your brother

Albert
