life after colon cancer

i have had a total bowel removal and wear a permanent stoma bag for life.

i do not think enough is done for cancer people, my wife and i do everything ourselves.

mr.stoma goes everywhere with us and is part of our family. we have adjusted to bad and good days. there are not enough facilities for changing when you are out. it can be embarrassing sometimes. but we accept it and include all that goes with it and we are strong together.

We have learned so much and have everything to hand, we are lucky as our daughter died of cancer, but we keep going for her and her daughter. Someone to care and listen and to kick your backside when needed is so important.

It is called a Proctocolectomy

The procedure is called a total colectomy with reanastomosis.
