Just as well I asked for colonoscopy to be brought forward

I had the fecal blood occult screening test sent to me in the mail. I did the test and sent it back, within two days I had a letter back saying to go to doctor for referral for colonoscopy, as my test had revealed blood in the stool. I went to local doctor, who just said to see his secretary to make appointment for specialist. Well an appointment could not be made for three months and that was only to consult with specialist.
As I had had symptoms I emailed the Colon Cancer Centre stating I felt this was wrong when the Gov. was sending out tests and advising of early diagnosis. Within days a Doctor rang me from the Centre, and said my local doctor had not tagged me as on the program, and no I should not wait that long. A couple of days later I was in having a Colonoscopy, and yes two polyps were detected and removed.
Had I just taken the non-interested approach of local doctor, those polyps could have turned into cancer.
I am glad I went with my gut feeling, and have had the colonoscopy done now rather than too much later.
