I think it could be Colon Cancer

Hi, I just finished reading the info on this site and is quite worried I may have colon cancer. Over the last few months my bowel habits have change, either loose stools or constipation, pain in my left side that is getting worse and that just won't go away.( Have the pain about a week now.) and pain during bowel movements. My stool sometimes look just like ribbon, but not dark. My dad had colon cancer and passed away earlier this year. I am going to make a doc's appt. The pain is pretty bad at times. What do you think?
