I Finally Got This Thing Scheduled!

by Mike
(Orange County, CA)

It has been several weeks since I posted my first message and I'm back to report that I finally got my colonoscopy scheduled. It occurs to me that you can waste a lot of energy thinking about something like this if you let it linger on. I kept saying to myself, "oh yeah, I need to take care of that today" and of course, other things would preempt and I would put it off for another day. It actually took a few phone calls to get this moving forward. First, I needed to decide where I was going to have it done. I called my regular doctor's office and they gave me the name and number of a specialists (what do you call these guys?). However, I actually wound up going with another specialist that was referred to me by a friend - Dr. Adamandy in Mission Viejo. My friend could not say enough good things about this guy so that was good enough for me. However, initially, I did not have the spelling of his name correct and it took a few more phone calls, while playing phone tag, to secure his correct name and number. I was finally ready to make the call to schedule the appointment. I learned from my recent ear surgery that it's important for the provider to be on your insurance company's 'network of providers' so this was the first question I asked and the answer was yes. The doctor happened to have an opening for the next day so I took the appointment. Wow, that part took only five minutes and I was relieved to get it done. I had my office appointment with the doctor yesterday. It went really fast, only taking about an hour including travel time. He asked if I had any pain or discomfort or any other symptoms. I mentioned that I have been experiencing a burning sensation that comes and goes and seems more noticeable when I eat spicy foods. He mentioned a couple of possible causes for this and said we'll see if the colonoscopy shows anything. The colonosocpy is scheduled for June 24th, 2009. I'll let you know the outcome afterward. I'm glad to have this scheduled.

Colonoscopy Test
by: Anonymous

I'm glad that you will have your test soon. Unknowing to me, my dad(82 years old) didn't have one for three years. Now he has a mass growing on the bottom of his colon. His doctor told me that he had told my dad to have one done three years ago. My dad thought the test would hurt.
Always get the test done that the doctor asks you to do. These tests reveal information about you and your body. Once again, the test doesn't hurt. Best Wishes and good health to you.
