Gas after Colon Surgery

My mother hasjust had bowel surgery for a large tumor and has an ileostomy (stoma?) bag. She is finding "wind" to be a huge problem even though being sensible about her diet and avoiding the troublesome foods . She is eating lentils though as she is vegetarian, is this ok? She is getting very depressed about the whole thing? any advice please? thanks Kim
