exams a year after colon resection

by Kathleen
(WAshington State, USA)

I had a colon resection in May 2010. My surgeon did a flex sigmoidoscopy in February 2011, and everything was normal... but I hurt for days afterward, and my gastroenterologist did a colonoscopy in May and found some inflammation due to rectal ischemia--but even after extensive testing, no cause was pinpointed. I was prescribed fiber supplements, and the issue is controllable. My surgeon wanted to do another flex sigmoidoscopy a few months later, but my gastroenterologist said he saw no reason to. Now, the surgeon is after me again to have it done... WHY should I go through the pain again and risk stirring up that inflammation?
