Constipation and Diareha after colorectal surgery

by Nancy
(Katy, Texas)

My husband was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer 3 years ago. He had 6 weeks of radiation and chemo and then surgery. The surgeon removed a foot of his colon and some of the bowel. The colon removal was the lower section of the colon. He had a bag for about 8 weeks and then was put back together. Since then has has been completely cancer free with check ups every 3 months. Currently, the issue is that every time he eats, it goes right thru him, sometimes. Other times, he's very constipated. He was taking something to help control things but has since stopped. Sometimes he spends hours in the bathroom and other times he's fine. What in the world can we do to help get him to be more "regular"? He says this is the way it is now...
