Colonoscopy Not bad at all.....

by Shirley
(overseas)

Having Crohn's Disease requires that I have a colonoscopy about every three years.
Just had one last week, and I wanted to let people know that IT ISN'T BAD AT ALL!!
The prep was much much easier than in previous years: he relatively new "Pico-salax" was a life-saver: it tasted fine, and the results didn't have me running to the toilet all night: slept very well.
The actual colonoscopy was just a blurr: I was given a sedative and put to semi-sleep. I believe that at some point I did wake up and feel a bit uncomfortable, but later could not quite recall that.
Have no hesitation about doing a colonoscopy: make sure you are doing it the gently way. There 's no more need for horrible-tasting and strong preps, and certainly no need for being awake throughout the whole procedure!!
