Age when getting colon cancer
by: Anonymous

You can get colon cancer at any age. Risks usually increase with age and poor diet/exercise regime. My brother died of colon cancer at 34 and my mother was diagnosed with it at 55. Since these are both first degree relatives, I started geting colonoscopies at 24.

I get them about every 3-5 years and an annual fecal occult test. I have yet to get any polyps which is good sign. The earlier in age you get cancer the more aggressive it tends to be. If you have a family history, get checked out earlier as opposed to later.

Colon Cancer starts at what age?

As with any cancer, a person can get it at any age.
The guidelines strongly suggest you to start getting screened for it at 50.
If there is colon cancer in your family then earlier, sometimes as early as 25 years old.
