Colon Cancer Suddenly Diagnosed

I have a friend that was diagnosed with colon cancer and it has spread to the liver. He was diagnosed 2 weeks ago after having some rectal bleeding.

They put him right into Chemo and has already had two treatments and a third is set for Dec. I don't want to ask him flat out what stage it is but my guess is not good. Any comments?

Thank you for your response. I thought it was stage 4 but really didn't want to ask. He is in great shape and strong as a horse so I pray that he beats the stats!

Colon Cancer Newly Diagnosed & Already in the Liver
by: Anonymous

To Whom It May Concern,

If his cancer has already spread to the liver that definitely is not good; when it travels to another organ that is stage 4 cancer, the most serious stage. I wish I could have been kinder but colon cancer is one of the cancers that often are not diagnosed until it's already spread. There is no such thing as a kind cancer but there are some that are very treatable. Stage 4 with any of them are the worse stage.

He is going to need friends and family more than ever now.

This Colon Cancer Suddenly Diagnosed is Stage 4
by: Anonymous

Any time the cancer has spread to other body areas, then it is stage 4 metastatic cancer. The treatment is often chemotherapy to shrink cancerous tumors throughout the body and sometimes they do surgery afterward to remove the primary tumor. The real need right now is to try and get rid of tumors outside of the colon area.
