Colon Cancer stage IV - what is after chemotherapy

by Evie
(Indonesia)

My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer and has spread to lymph nodes, liver, and illiac bone. She has been through 6 cycles of chemotherapy (5-FU later switched to Xeloda and Avastin) The CA 19.9 and CEA keeps going down.

Once the CA 19.9 and CEA are low enough, we'd like to know what is the next step? The doctor said that surgery is not an option at this time because of the size of the tumors in the liver. Also, she has been experiencing severe bloating lately and has been put on liquid diet because of obstruction in her colon.

Is this condition normal? Is it going to be permanent?

Thank you for your help
