Colon Cancer stage 4

by Phyllis
(Chicago, Illinois)

I'm looking for an honest answer please. Two months ago my dearest friend was diagnosed with colon cancer stage 2. Then he had 3 chemo treatments but the cancer spread,

Now it has spread to his liver and is a stage 4 cancer. He has only had one treatment of chemo and radiation so far...I don't know if that is by choice! The bottom line is...how long is his life expectancy now? He has a history of diabetes since childhood and has had heart surgery 3 years ago. I don't imagine he is a good candidate for any surgery. I need to know how long he will be here under those circumstances. My gut feeling is only a few weeks; I'm praying that I'm wrong. During this time; how do I help him?

Thank You,
Phyllis

I thank you for your honesty. I just wish you could have given me some tips on helping my friend. It's now in his brain and he's decided to stop all treatment...which I totally understand under the circumstances.

Do me a favor and keep the snake oil salesmen out of the forum whenever possible...giving false hope is cruel. God bless you for all you do.

Thanks,
Phyllis

Colon cancer Stage 4 response
by: CCR website

Most people with stage 4 cancer of the colon do die and they can die within weeks or months but usually not years. Other health problems can interfere with the colon cancer and make survival of colon cancer more difficult. There is no surgery that will really help this type of cancer.
