chemo or radiation pelvic side effects

Does radiation or chemotherapy cause your vaginal area to be raw? It has been 10 months since I had chemo and radiation and I have not been able to have an active sexual realtionship with my husband. I went to the doctor the other day and had a complete physical done and she said my vaginal area was very red and raw looking. Just wondering what would cause this. Please help me out.
