can you life after a colapsed colon and having scepticemia?

My friend was taken into hospital with broken ribs, she was later diagnosed with septicimia and a collapsed colon. they removed her gall bladder and put her into a drug induced coma.... what are her changes? she has already survived three weeks. Any information is greatly appreciated
