Can you help? I am scared I need a colonoscopy and I can't afford it

by Kate
(Ukiah, CA)

My name is Kate. I am 60 years old and my mother died of colon cancer at age 58. I have never been able to afford a colonoscopy, and am wondering if you have a scholarship fund for high-risk people. My health insurance (Blue Cross, $5,000 deductible) does not cover it. I am partially disabled with Lyme Disease, which gives me high medical expenses and doesn't allow me to work full time in my work as a free-lance publicist. My net income is not very much and I have to pay about $800/ month for health insurance and health care costs.

Thanks for any information or help you can give me.

Can you help me?
by: Sandra

My name is Sandra. I am 56 years old and care for my 80 year old mother with alzheimers in her home. I have no income and no health insurance. My father had GI cancer and my mother had polyps. My doctor ordered a colonoscopy for me 8 years ago because I had occult blood. I have not been able to afford the procedure. Does anyone know of any funding or maybe even loans for this procedure? Please help!!!!

Colonoscopy help

That was so nice that you could get your colonoscopy for free. I too am uninsured, self employed and my doctor has ordered me to get one. I am going to have to cancel the appointment because I am unable to afford it.

helping you get a life saving colonoscopy
by: Anonymous

Dear Kate,

We don't have any scholarships at this web site, we are privately funded by one family. But we have arranged for Stanford Medical Hospital to give you a free-of-charge colonoscopy. Please let me know if they do not contact you soon and we will push them to get it done. I hope everything goes well for you. Please let us know.
