Bowel cancer

My dad was diagnosed with cancer and he had surgery in July 2009.After which he had chemo for 6 months,he started having severe back pains.He has been in hospital for the last 3months very ill,he can't walk, had blood transfusion three times due to heavy bleeding, had clot in his leg which was treated.
Now the doctors have ruled out any treatment they are only managing his pains and symptoms.I will like to know if there is anything we can do to help him or seek second opinion.
