Anxiousness after colon resection, how to deal with it?

by Helen
(Arizona)

I had stage 3 colon cancer resection in Sept. Still dealing with diarrhea on a regular basis. Does it ever go away? Also, can't sleep at night thinking about it all the time. Xanax doesn't help. How do I accept the diagnosis and go on. I feel sick to my stomach daily.

Coping with Chemo
by: Helen

I wrote in Dec. about my fears about cancer and upcoming chemo. Since then, I have dealt with this disease and am undergoing chemo. It took 2-3 months for me to accept all this. Then, I saw an article about 5 vacationers in Hawaii on a helicopter trip. Probably thinking this was the best time in their lives. The helicopter crashed killing all 5. This made me realize God is in control of when we die, not cancer. I am on chemo and doing pretty well, side effects are not easy to deal with, but, it is doable. So, I want to encourage anyone having to deal with this. I will be done with chemo May 8th, Amen! Good luck to all having this to deal with!

HELLO
by: JUST JANE

IF YOU ARE DRINKING ANYTHING WARM OR HOT WITH YOUR MEALS THAT WILL CAUSE YOU TO GO ALOT AND QUICKER. AS MUCH AS YOU MAY LIKE AND THEY MAY BE HEALTHIER FOR US THAN COOKED FOODS, TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM ALL FRESH FUITS AND VEGGIES. PAR BOIL, STEAM - BAKE BROIL ETC, YOUR FOOD. IT IS WORK AND DOES WORK. MAYBE A WAFFLE OR TWO AND A EGG ON TOP FOR BREAKFAST. NO SUGAR IF POSSIBLE.

I just found out about my mother... :(
by: Anonymous

I am very worried and can't understand why she never told me that she has had blood in her stool for years. I even blame myself. I don't know what to do... I want her to fight... I want to help her fight it. I wish you all the best.

Thanks to colon cancer replies
by: Helen

I appreciate hearing comments of encouragement. I had a port put in for chemo 2 days ago. I start chemo after Thanksgiving. I have heard some encouraging things, and hope chemo works to make me have some good days ahead. Thanks to all who have commented on my original posting!

Life after cancer
by: Anonymous

Hi there Helen
I too had a colon resection this year and it is difficult to not worry about it. I was lucky and my cancer was caught early. But I still worry about this every day. I think we need to concentrate on how things are today. Not focus on what could happen. Let's all be positive.
